Metal Stair Railing, Welded to Your Measurement

Three designs

• Vertical bar railing (Axis). Plain vertical bars. The one most people picture when they say metal railing.
• Framed railing (Keystone). Pickets with welded frames floating between them. More to look at.
• Horizontal bar railing (Horizon). Bars run sideways. The modern look.

All three come 36 or 42 inches high, same price either way. Matte black or semi-gloss black powder coat. The price is on each product page and it moves as you slide the length.

Straight runs order online. Stairs get a drawing first.

A landing, a loft edge, or a balcony inside the house is a level run. Pick a design, slide to your length, and the price is on the page. Add it to the cart.

A railing that runs down the stairs follows the angle of the steps, so we draw it before we build it. Text a picture of the stair and tell us how many steps. You get a drawing with every measurement on it. You approve it, then we build.

L-shapes, U-shapes, a stair that turns at a landing, and runs over 10 feet go the same way. Picture, rough sizes, drawing, price.

How it mounts

Each panel comes with its posts on and base plates welded to the bottom of the posts. The plates bolt down to wood framing with the lag screws in the box. Plate covers snap over the bolts when you are done.

Going into concrete, pavers or stone? Say so when you order and we build it for concrete. The right anchor depends on what you have, so we do not guess.

Steel inside, aluminum outside

The panels on this site are steel and belong inside the house. Welded, ground smooth, then powder coated.

For a deck, a porch, or an outside stair we build the same three designs in aluminum. Aluminum does not rust and does not need repainting. See aluminum deck and porch railings.

What passes inspection

Anywhere the drop is more than 30 inches you need a guard, and in a home it has to be at least 36 inches high. Every opening in our panels is under 4 inches, so a small child cannot get through. On the stair itself the height is measured from the front edges of the steps, and the drawing you approve shows that.

The handrail on the wall side

Most stairs also need something to hold on the wall side. We make wall mounted handrails in the same black finish, cut to your length, brackets included. Order it with the railing and the two match.
