Barzel Metal Works LLC wants barzelmetalworks.com to be usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, screen magnification or voice control.
What we are working toward
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. We are not claiming the site currently meets that standard in every respect — it is a target we build against and check our work against.
What we have done
- Text alternatives on product and shop photographs.
- A visible keyboard focus indicator, and a skip-to-content link.
- Headings used in order, so a screen reader can navigate the page structure.
- Form fields with proper labels.
- Colour combinations chosen for contrast rather than for looks alone.
- The length sliders on our product pages are standard range inputs, so they can be operated with arrow keys, and the plus and minus buttons beside them work by keyboard and are sized for easier tapping.
- The site reflows to narrow screens without horizontal scrolling.
Known limitations
We are a one-person shop and we will be straight with you about this:
- Some parts of the site come from third parties — the checkout, the chat widget and the review app — and we do not control their code.
- Our product pages show a live scale drawing of the railing you have sized. It is a visual aid; the same information is always given in words beside it — length, bar or picket count, bracket count and number of sections — so nothing is available only in the drawing.
- We have not yet had the site independently audited.
Tell us if something does not work
If any part of this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, please tell us and we will fix it or find another way to get you what you need. You will not be passed around — it goes straight to the owner.
